Blurbs - LA Galaxy rejects Milan offer for Beckham

The best paid football player in the world, David Beckham, is currently playing for Italian giant AC Milan on loan but remains under contract with the LA Galaxy. He was loaned out because Major League Soccer (MLS) doesn’t start until March. However, Beckham is enjoying his time in Milan so much that he wants to stay with AC Milan. Milan is very fond of Beckham and would like to make his loan spell a permanent stay.

This week Beckham’s lawyers tried talking to LA Galaxy about a transfer to AC Milan and Milan made their bid. They offered $10 million US for the 35 year old Becks. Quite a lot for a player getting on in age in my view. In turn, the Galaxy rejected the offer.

I can understand Beckham. The level of the MLS isn’t comparable to the Seria A. The Seria A level of play is much higher and especially for a competitive player of his calibre a big challenge. Something you won’t find in the MLS. In my opinion, LA Galaxy should let Becks go he simply won’t be motivated in MLS given his quality as a player.

And looking at Becks’ matches at Milan it looks just like he has reinvented himself. So why not opt for a transfer?

Galaxy would like to talk about an extension for the loan spell but only if the money is good. Hopefully Milan can afford it because a player like Beckham is wasting his talent in the MLS.

We stay in Milan for more news. Milan are currently following Luis Suarez of Ajax Amsterdam. They are willing to spend 40 million euros for the Uruguyuan international. Luis Suarez transferred in 2007 from FC Groningen to Ajax Amsterdam for only 7.5 million euros. Now that’s some good business for Ajax there if the rumours are true.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo piled up the pressure for the clash between Manchester United and Inter Milan by saying that ManU will be the ones to go to the next round.

Inter coach Jose Mourinho said that even though Cristiano Ronaldo has won the World Footballer of the year award he finds Zlatan Ibrahimovic the better player.

Ronaldo replied by saying that all the awards that matter are in his home.

Robinho

One of the most surprising transfers of the 2008/2009 season was Robinho moving to Manchester City. In an interview Robinho has said that he finds that he is just as good as Cristiano Ronaldo.

What do you think? Is he just as good ? Let us know!

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Huntelaar transferred for a 27 million euros fee to Real Madrid from Ajax. He promised the fans a lot of goals, just like he did with Ajax, but so far he hasn’t scored any yet. He has only played one match from the start and was used as a substitute in the other matches. He wasn’t registered for the Real Madrid Champions League team in favor of Diarra and yet Klaas-Jan “The Hunter” Huntelaar isn’t worried at all.

In an interview he says that he will keep fighting and that the goals will come.

Sounds nice and I hope he will back it up sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, Dutch national coach Bert van Marwijk has warned him that being a sub will harm his chances in the long run with the Dutch national team.

Ricardo Queresma

He was voted one of the worst players in the Seria A and yet Inter chairman Massimo Moratti doesn’t think of Quaresma as a failure. Better yet, he thinks that the loanspell at Chelsea will increase the value of the player.

Morrati doesn’t think of him as a flop because this is the second time that a top team with a top coach has attracted Quaresma. Morrati is also convinced that Quaresma will reach his top form again.

Quaresma is reunited at Chelsea with former Portugal national coach Felipe Scolari.
