Exciting weeks of football usually bring change.
For some of our Heisman Hopefuls...change was good. For others, change was not so good.
The Fantasy College Blitz Heisman Watch saw some changes this week, with a few big names returning to the FCB charts. However, unlike most of the media....the FCB staff did not go overboard in grabbing Mr Stiffarm from one player and hand it to another.
With the reduced Championship Week schedule, only a few of the Heisman hopefuls will get another chance to impress the voters.
--------------------------------------------------------
HEISMAN TRIVIA:
1. Who was the first Heisman-winning QB to win a Super Bowl?
2. In 1997, Charles Woodson of Michigan was the first Heisman Winner that solely played a defensive position. Before 1997, which defensive player was the closest to win the Heisman...and what year.
3. Who is the only JUCO (junior-college) transfer to win the Heisman?
4. Which Manning finished highest in Heisman voting: Archie, Peyton, or Eli?.
----------------------------------------------
Answers from last week:
1. Leon Hart, 1949 winner from Notre Dame, was listed at 6-5, 260. Not only our biggest Heisman winner....but huge for his era.
2. There have been 5 Heisman winners from the Service Academies: Three from Army (Doc Blanchard 1945, Glenn Davis 1946, Pete Dawkins 1958. Two from Navy (Joe Bellino 1960, Roger Staubach 1963).
3. Only Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman winner from Florida, was the only one of the six who played prep ball in Florida. The other five came from out-of-state.
4. Only South Carolina, with George Rogers winning in 1980, has produced a Heisman winner among Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. Amazing that Alabama and Tennessee have never produced a Heisman winner.

THE FCB HEISMAN WATCH RANKINGS (November 25-December 1)
1. TIM TEBOW - Florida: After dismantling rival Florida State...and doing it with a broken hand...Tebow did nothing to lose support with the FCB staff. The Gator signal-caller received all but one first place vote, and, ended the regular season on a high note. Staff Writer Christopher Pendley wondered "what are they going to do with Tebow in [EA Sports] NCAA Football '09? I wonder, too...
2. CHASE DANIEL - Missouri: Led Mizzou to their first-ever Big XII Championship Game after knocking off Kansas last weekend. He was a solid second-choice among the FCB staff. and FCB CBO John Huss noted that Daniel "has a better ranking [team] over Tebow. Daniel could tip the scales this weekend with a great game and a win over Oklahoma.
3. KEVIN SMITH - UCF: "24K" has "gone Bo Jackson on CUSA", according to Christopher Pendley. And has gone Herschel Walker, Marcus Allen, and a whole lot of other great backs, too....and could go Barry Sanders with two more big games (CUSA Championship, bowl game)...breaking Sanders single-season rushing record.
4. DARREN McFADDEN - Arkansas: Put himself back in the running with a huge game vs LSU on Black Friday. McFadden will be the Number One draft pick in the next NFL Draft (Miami Dolphins already on the clock), but has had some less-than-stellar performances this season, and, backfield mate FB Peyton Hillis made as many big plays vs LSU. He will be the fave among many Heisman voters.
5. PAT WHITE - West Virginia: Unfortunately, not as many people watched White totally dismantle a good UConn defense on Saturday...possibly one of the best performances by any one player this season. Nothing funnier than the look of dismay on the UConn Huskie mascot as White led the BCS #2-ranked Mountaineers on another scoring drive.
Others Receiving Votes: Colt Brennan, Hawaii; Dennis Dixon, Oregon; Graham Harrell, Texas Tech.
With college-football memories that would baffle Beano Cook, Daniel Freer runs down the FCB Heisman Watch. If you want to reach Daniel run him down and over at Fantasy College Blitz.
