2008 has
arrived and we can only assume that it will be another eventful year in sports.
If it happens you can bet that ISW will be there in both low and high spirit but
not necessarily physically reporting any of it – look, we’re not a snobby news
network with all their fancy cars, trendy water, private chefs and Columbia
degrees.
However,
what we will attempt to promise are original opinions in the world of sports.
What makes the ISW experience – or any imaginative sports blog – so enthralling
and enriching like an Entemann’s pastry? Well, in our humble opinion, we write
about sports free of the cynicism so prevalent in today’s world.
Yeah, yeah,
there are many jerks and cheats in sports, but how is this any different anywhere
else? Life is full of idiots so why succumb to it with faux cynical writing? That’s
plain and plump too easy to do. It just slows down the progress of artistic
sports writing.
Nah. We
choose to write about sports because we simply love it. There’s no need to
intellectualize why we do. And that’s why sports blogging is so effective and
enjoyable. Perhaps we’re not as “plugged” in. Maybe we’re not as smart or
marketable as Rick Reilly or ESPN but gosh darn it we collectively look and
feel good.
Call us the
Sports blogging version of the Rat Pack.
Enough of
this trivial tripe. Time for 2008 to do the dancing, talking, playing and
cheating for us.
And don’t
forget, if you want to contribute to ISW, we’re open to your thoughts, articles
and ideas! Drop us a line.
Play ball!
